Log # 41
And so it begins! The first snow of the season is here and it is crazy cold. I was not dressed for the weather today. Sneakers should never be anyone’s first choice of footwear in a weather like tonight. However, since the snow was ideally supposed to be starting tomorrow i.e. October 12th, I was out with my NB 1906R. Comfy shoes I must stay, but my planter is triggered lately and unless massaged – the pain doesn’t go away. Anyhow, this is the first dump of snow and likely will not last until Monday. First snows are usually a mix of frozen rain and snow and I would rather get a lot of snow, than frozen rain. It is nearly impossible to remove it from your car until the weather is nice and warm again. Currently with only 1 degree centigrade, feels like has dropped to -7 and certainly felt it.
The day today was really nice. My friends and I gathered up at a Turkish place for brunch. Among all the Turkish restaurants in the city, I think I like this one the best. Food is great, ambiance is nice, and best of all they either don’t play any music or it is played at a very low volume. Low volume music means you can actually have conversations without screaming at each other. In my opinion, loud music should be banned at cafes. We go to cafes for a nice cozy time to have some coffee. Not to head bang to the incredibly loud music, and it is not great either most times. A nice warm autumn day today is ending with a ice cold wind and snow.
My Binoo was also due for her yearly shots recently and today was the day we finally got it done. She has figured out that carrier means we are either going to visit Amber or the vet, so she is scared at the sight of it now. She’s kind and sweet enough to still not put up a big fight when she’s politely pushed into it. Just like me, she has also put up a few pounds and we are both much “fuller figures” now. Not proud to acknowledge this but it is what it is. We will eventually get back into shape. Striking up conversations with strangers often brings loads of informations and opportunities. I have started to believe that introverted folks may or may not get too far if they’re being too shy and quiet. I could be wrong but really think this is how the world works now. Squeaky wheel gets the oil!
A couple months ago, I went to a thrift store and saw the grandfather chair with a footrest which now I wish I had bought. I keep thinking of it often for some reason. Every visit to a thrift store brings me back the memory of the chair that got away. Actually, I am not sure if it is called the grandfather chair, it is just a single seater sofa chair with a footrest. I wish I could find it again and get it. I also despise the idea of a home filled with stuff so I am very mindful with what I buy. Also, I always keep in mind that the new purchase already has a place to go when we reach home.
Thanksgiving weekend is giving me an opportunity to do my summer-winter clothes rotation now. I do not even have my snow brush in the car which I am certain I will be needing soon. Perhaps it will happen tomorrow and I will sit with piles of clothes for the coming week. Or maybe I will be so efficient that I will wrap it all up in one day. Who knows, I am full of surprises and often surprise myself too.
